Angiotensin II Converting Enzyme (ACE2), is a zinc-dependent carboxypeptidase.  It is a member of the renin-angiotensin system (RAAS) which controls blood pressure through the intervention of Angiotensin. It cleaves Angiotensin I to Ang 1-7 and Ang 1-9, (of unknown function). ACE2 serves as the primary cellular entry receptor for coronaviruses such as SARS CoV-2. ACE2 inhibitors increase hypertension due to angiotensin II build-up.
