DESCRIPTION

Inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH) is the enzyme responsible for catalyzing the NAD-dependent oxidation of inosine monophosphate to xanthosine monophosphate, the first committed and rate-limiting step in de novo biosynthesis of guanine nucleotides. IMPDH serves as a key regulator of guanine nucleotide pools, influencing a broad array of cellular processes. IMPDH, particularly IMPDH2 is highly expressed in rapidly proliferating cells and cancer where guanine nucleotide demand is elevated. High levels of IMPDH2 are characteristic of aggressive tumors and linked to poor prognosis in cancers. Inhibition of IMPDH by mycophenolate is a strategy in immunosuppresive and antiviral therapies. AkrivisBio’s IMPDH2 Inhibitor screening kit is a simple sensitive way to study the effects of exogenous compounds on the activity of IMPDH.
