DESCRIPTION

Glucose and Maltose are some of the most abundant carbohydrate fuel sources on earth, used to generate ATP. Maltose is the major disaccharide formed from hydrolysis of starch and contains two glucose units joined in a α-1, 4-glycosidic linkage. It has essentially the same effect on insulin release as glucose but with twice the molar caloric energy. Glucose is the primary sugar utilized by living organisms through the glycolytic pathway and tricarboxylic acid cycle.  AkrivisBio’s Glucose and Maltose Assay allows for the accurate measurement of both molecules, individually in a variety of samples with a sensitivity well below 1 nanomole using absorbance and as low as 5-10 picomoles using fluorescence.
