DESCRIPTION
Mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell, generating the vast majority of ATP produced. Isolated mitochondria are a useful tool for the study of respiration, apoptosis, mtDNA and mtRNA, and protein profiling. AkrivisBio’s Yeast Mitochondria Isolation Kit allows for simple, rapid purification of mitochondria from yeast cells. This kit has been tested for Pichia and S. cerevisiae and should work equally well when isolating mitochondria from other yeast species. It is designed for samples of 10-20 ml of a yeast culture of ~ 20 OD. The typical yield is ~150-200 µg of mitochondria.
