DESCRIPTION

An antidiabetic agent. Acts as a potent inhibitor of dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP IV), an enzyme that breaks down glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1). Prevents the inactivation of endogenous GLP-1 and GIP through competitive inhibition of the DPP IV enzyme.
