DESCRIPTION

BAY 87-2243 is a highly potent and selective inhibitor of hypoxia-induced gene activation, which is involved in cellular responses to low oxygen levels (hypoxia). In tumors, areas of low oxygen concentration can promote tumor growth, metastasis, and resistance to conventional therapies. By targeting the HIF pathway, BAY 87-2243 aims to disrupt these tumor-promoting effects. Additionally, BAY 87-2243 also acts as an inhibitor of mitochondrial function. It can inhibit the oxygen consumption with IC₅₀ value of 10 nM.
