ATP is the primary energy currency of cells. Virtually all energy dependent processes including metabolism, muscle contraction, signal transduction etc. utilize the chemical energy stored in the phosphate bond of ATP. AkrivisBio’s ATP assay kit is simple, robust assay to quantify the amount of ATP present in various samples. In this assay, ATP from samples phosphorylate glycerol. Glycerol phosphate is then oxidized with the formation of hydrogen peroxide, which is then utilized by the peroxidase to oxidize ADHP resulting in the formation of intense color/fluorescence measured at OD 570 nm or at Ex/Em = 535/587 nm.
